The Republic of Madagascar shortly known as Madagascar, gained its independence on 26teh June, 1960. The country of Madagascar is blessed with two seasons the rainy season from November to April and dry season from May to October.
Most of the Malagasy follow the Christian religion where as around 7 percent of the people follow Islam religion. The education is comparatively high in Madagascar which is free and make compulsory for children between 06 to 13 years of old. The country also faces a small degree of illiteracy. The total land under cultivation is nearly 5 percent and Madagascar cultivates a good quality of coffee, sugarcane, vanilla, cocoa, beans, rice and livestock products. The labor force of the country was 7.3 million till 2000 and the major industries in the country are meat processing, sugar textiles, soap industries, automobile assembly plant, petroleum, paper industry and tourism industries. Madagascar also has a number of natural resources like graphite, coal, salt, chromite, mica, semiprecious stones, fish and hydropower. Major exports of the country are coffee, shellfish, vanilla, cotton cloth, petroleum products and sugar where as the country imports consumer goods, petroleum, capital goods and food.
