The world’s largest and the most heavily populated continent is Asia. 8.6% of the total surface area of the Earth is covered by this continent. Asia consists of almost 4 billion people and contains more than 60% of the world’s current human population. Mainly situated in the eastern and the northern hemispheres, Asia is habitually referred as part of the landmass of Africa and Eurasia.
Asia is the destination for many lingual families. Most of the Asian countries speak one native language. It has been estimated that more than 600 languages are spoken in Indonesia, of which more than 415 languages are spoken in India. Rabindranath Tagore is famous for writing the Indian and Bangladeshi national anthem he is a Bengali poet and the first Asian Nobel laureate in 1913. Asia is also known for its diverse mythology.
Asia is considered to be the third largest nominal GDP of all continents. The largest national economy within Asia with the largest gross domestic product is China, which is followed by India and Japan. Petroleum and forests are some of the rich natural resources found in Asia. By a considerable margin, Asia is the largest continent in the world.
