Lithuania
Lithuania is a small country in northern Europe. It is situated in the South eastern shore of Baltic Sea and is surrounded by countries like Latvia, Belarus, Poland, Russia exclave and Kaliningrad Oblast. It is a member of the European Union since 1st of May, 2004 and also of NATO from 29th March 2004. Vilnius is the capital of the country and Lithuanian is the official language.
Cuisine of Lithuania is famous for cold beet soup, potato meals and Lithuanian sausage. From the potato meals the most famous are potato pancakes and potato dumplings stuffed with curd, meat, cheese and mushrooms. The history of Music in Lithuania is very old. Folk music of the country is primarily polyphonic that is played on zinthers and flutes. Mikalojus Konatantinas Ciurlionis is the greatest classical music composer of the country and has influenced the culture profoundly.
Prior to joining the European Union in 2003, the economic growth rate of Lithuania was higher than any of the other member countries. The GDP of the country reflects an impressive economic development. Lithuania is also a member of the World Trade Organization. According to UN classification, Lithuania has highest average income. The infrastructure of the country is well developed and maximum population of the country is employed.
