Honduras
Honduras is the republican democratic in Central America. In order is located to differentiate from British Honduras and it was formerly known as Spanish Honduras. Guatemala is located to the west, El Salvador is located to the southwest, Nicaragua is located to the southeast, Pacific Ocean is located to the south, and Gulf of Honduras is located to the north of Honduras. Honduras is divided in to 18 sections.
Spanish is the predominant language of Honduras while Creole English is the language spoken in Caribbean Islas de la Bahia. The painters and writers of Honduras are well known since ages. Extensive use of coconut is found in Honduran cuisine. Honduras music is influenced by the Central American music. Theater of Honduras is one of the biggest of Central America. It is a folklore country and fish rain, Lluvia de Peces is famous. Soccer remains the most popular sport of Honduras.
In the western hemisphere, Honduras is one amongst the 10 poor countries. GDP of Honduras is US$3,100 p.a. There is an economic growth of about 5 %. However 50 % of the population lives below poverty line. Honduras has wide forest, marine and mineral resources. Inflation rate is bout 14 %. Honduras exports various commodities like bananas, shrimp, lobsters, meat, coffee, citrus, zinc, lumber, and electricity. Honduras imports commodities like machinery and transport equipments, chemical products, fuels, foodstuffs, industrial raw products. Several plans are worked for its development and economic growth.
