Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico the official Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is a self governing nation and an unincorporated territory of the United States with the status of commonwealth. The island nation is located in between the Caribbean sea and the North Atlantic Ocean to the east of Dominican Republic. The island of Puerto Rico receives a tropical marine climate throughout the year with a little of seasonal temperature variation. The surface of the nation is mostly mountains with coastal plains in the north. Whereas in the west there are mountains that precipitous to the sea. Most of the coastal areas are sandy beaches. The land of Puerto Rico is also covered by a number of man-made lakes and rivers that originate from center of the country.
White or the Spanish origin ethnic group make up the most population in Puerto Rico whereas there are also black, Asian, mixed and Amerindian that cover the total population of approximately 3,944,259 of 2006. All the island nations along with Puerto Rico have the official language as Spanish. English is also language thought in the public schools. Roman Catholic is historically the most central religion followed in Puerto Rico. Apart from this people also follow protestant and other religions in Puerto Rico.
