Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a nation made up of group of islands. The nation belongs to the Lesser Antilles chain in the Caribbean Sea. Most of the land from the 389-sq.km area belongs to Saint Vincent Island. The northern side comes under Grenadines Islands. The group of islands was initially controlled by the British colonies. The nation is now part of CARICOM and Commonwealth of Nations.

Majority of the population on the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are the descendants of slaves from Africa. These slaves were brought here for the plantation work. Other people are the descendants of the white Portuguese and English colonials.

The nation has a well-developed food packaging and processing industry, cement industries and garments making and starch industries.
