The Virgin Islands in United States of America are a group of small Islands in the country and is located amidst the Caribbean Islands. These groups of Islands are a part of the Virgin Island Archipelago. Saint John, Saint Thomas and Saint Cross are the main Islands in this region apart from a number of small Islands. The population of this region is more than 108,000.
The main economic activity in the Virgin Islands is tourism. Normally there are 2 million visitors each year in the islands. Access to the beaches in the Virgin Islands is considered as a right. There are several tourists who take a cruise on ships during their stay in the Islands.
Manufacturing is another economic activity in the Islands and this sector consists of textile, petroleum refining, electronics, rum distilling, electronics and assembling watch parts. Agriculture in the region is not that developed with a very small area under cultivation. Most of the food items are imported from other places. Financial services and international business sectors are growing at a very rapid rate in the region. One of the world’s largest refineries of the world is located Saint Croix, in these Islands.
