Today with the different space explorations and with researches in the field of astronomy a new branch of study has opened. It is known as Extragalactic Astronomy. This branch or astronomy transacts with objects and matters which exists outside our own galaxy (i.e. Milky Way). Extragalactic Astronomy is now on the verge of more and more research by astronomers and cosmologists. It has no concern with the elements of the galactic astronomy. Extragalactic Astronomy reveals the formation of other galaxies and also the Universe. In fact it also deals with the evolution of stars, supernova, nebulae and various other elements outside the Milky Way. Extragalactic Astronomy has been divided into two branches. They are Near-Extragalactic Astronomy and Far-Extragalactic Astronomy.
Near-Extragalactic Astronomy localizes the study. This involves the study of the elements, matter which are nearer. It deals with galaxies nearer to our own galaxy. On the other hand Far-Extragalactic Astronomy is involved in the research of elements much far than our own galaxy.
Both the branches of Extragalactic Astronomy require detailed understanding and analysis. Various calculations are performed to determine the distance of extra galaxial cosmic elements from our galaxy, reason for the formation of such elements and many such others.
