Mechanics

Mechanics deals with the response or the reaction of bodies when they are subjected to forces. These bodies can be projectiles, solids or parts of machinery. There are two divisions of mechanics.

1. Classical Mechanics. Some common branches are:

Newtonian mechanics dealing with kinematics and dynamics.

Hamiltonian mechanics deals with another formulated theory.

Celestial mechanics dealing the motion of celestial objects like galaxies, planets and stars.

Lagrangian Mechanics deals with a theoretical formula.

Astrodynamics deals with navigation of space crafts.

Fluid dynamics describes motion of fluids.

Bio mechanics studies mechanics of biological systems.

Acoustics studies sound.

Hydraulics deals with equilibrium of fluids.

Statistical mechanics studies particle assemblies.

Statics deals with semi rigid objects which are in mechanical equilibrium.

2. Quantum mechanics includes

Nuclear physics deals with movement and structure of particles within the nuclei.

Particle physics deals with movement of particles.

Condensed matter physics studies quantum matter.

Another classification is :
1. Newtonian mechanics dealing with macroscopic objects.

2. Quantum mechanics which includes Einstein’s theory of relativity.

The above branches do not contradict each other much as long as certain conditions are kept in mind.
