Nuclear

Nuclear power is a result of major research in nuclear technology that has led to using nuclear fusion reaction in controlled settings to generate power used in propulsion, to generate electricity and release energy which could be out to any use such as boiling water or power a turbine.

Enrico Fermi conducted the nuclear fission reaction in his lab in 1934 by using neutrons to bombard uranium. Post World War II period saw the rapid development of nuclear technology and there was a race to build nuclear reactors though the reactors were strictly kept under the government control. The first commercial station was inaugurated in England.

There are two types of nuclear reaction -
1. Nuclear Fission in which the nucleus of a heavy atom is split by bombarding it with neutrons thus releasing a large amount of energy.

2. Nuclear fusion involves the joining together or the binding of two light nuclei and this fusion releases a lot of energy.

Nuclear power can be put into good and bad uses as the world has witnessed. Some concerns regarding nuclear power are its waste disposal, safety concerning the reactors and the cost involved.
