Isaac Newton
Newton, a well known English physicist, philosopher, astronomer and an alchemist is famous for his study of gravitation and mechanics. His laws on mechanics are still put to use today.
Newton’s first law of motion states that an object at rest or in motion will continue in that state until and unless an external force acts on it.
The second law states that the force on an object is directly proportional to the acceleration produced on the object.
The third law states that every action on a body will have an equal and opposite reaction exerted the body on the source of force.
He discovered that a prism can decompose white light into seven constituent lights thus giving rise to the term VIBGYOR.
Law of cooling was an empirical formula given by him.
He designed a telescope to study celestial bodies.
He devised binomial theorem.
He discovered calculus.
Conservation of linear momentum and conservation of angular momentum were some of his other laws in mechanics.
