The History of Space Exploration & Travel began with the discoveries in the field of space sciences and technology in the starting of the 20th century. Scholars are researchers like Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Robert H. Goddard, Hermann Oberth etc proposed various theories and inventions regarding space traveling and space rocket technology.
It was in 1942 when the first rocket was launched by Germany and was able to travel up to 100Km from the surface of the Earth. From then onwards America, Soviet Union (Russia) carried similar missions. Russia was the first to send a dog (Laika) into the space by the help Sputnik 1 (satellite) on 3rd Nov, 1957. In the year 1961 Russia send Yuri Gagarin in Vostok 1 and was the first man to travel in space.
To explore the space USA (NASA), Russia, Germany send many communication satellites to facilitate communication from the space to the Earth. Satellites were also propelled to the moon and other planets.
Neil Armstrong was send to the moon to gather information and research materials from the moon. He was the first astronaut to land on the moon. From the year 1970 onwards many satellites were launched to planets like Mars, Venus etc. On 1979 NASA send Voyager 1 to Jupiter.
