Sir William Herschel announced the discovery of the planet Uranus in the year 1781. This discovery was made with the use of a telescope. Uranus is the seventh planet away from the sun and this is the fourth in size in the solar system. This can be seen with the nude eye. Earlier on before its discovery it was not recognized as planet due to tits dimness.
Neptune and Uranus have different atmospheric compositions than those of Saturn and Jupiter, the gas giants. As a consequence to this the astronomers have placed these two planets, Neptune and Uranus in the category of ice giants. The atmosphere is made up on helium and hydrogen and had greater amounts of ices like ammonia, water, methane and traces of hydro-carbons. There is a temperature on the planet of 49 k & has a clouded structure, where the water makes up the bottom most layers of cloud while the highest layers of cloud are made of methane.
Uranus also has numerous moons, a magnetosphere & a ring system. There is a tilted axis of rotary motion. When it is viewed from the earth, the Uranus’ rings can be seen round the plant and the moons move around like the clock’s hands. On the Uranus, there are signs of changes in the seasons as there are on earth and Mars and the weather activity increases when Uranus comes near to the Equinox.
