The Solar System is a gravitationally bound group of planets along with the Sun. Eight planets, with their moons that are 165 in number, Pluto, Eris, Ceres, the dwarf planets with their moons, that are four in number and billions of small heavenly bodies are included in the Solar System. There are others too like the interplanetary dust, meteoroids, comets, Kuiper belt objects, and asteroid in the group.
In wide terms, the Solar System is made up of the Sun, the inner planets, rocky bodies which make up the Asteroid belts, the Kuiper belt, the heliopause, the Oort cloud. Six planets in the solar system have satellites that are natural known as moons. All planets other than Earth are called after Goddesses and Gods from the mythology of Rome and Greece. Ceres is present in the asteroid belt, Pluto in the Kuiper belt and Eris in the scattered disc. The distance between the planets within the solar system is measured in astronomical units. AU or astronomical units is the distance between the Sun and the Earth. Light year is the unit best known for interstellar distance. The Solar System is divided into zones that include the principal asteroid belt, the terrestrial planets, the outer part of the solar system and the Gas Giants.
